Friends Bricks is a LEGO fan hobby community for bringing together people with a common interest ~ LEGO Friends.
The LEGO Friends theme appeals to many LEGO fans for many reasons:
For some it is the first offering by The LEGO Group that gave them interest in building with bricks.
For some it is a theme they wish would have around when they were younger.
For some it is the new colors and style of bricks that attracts them.
For some it is the theme setting and storyline that appeals.
For some it is their child's first interest in LEGO building.
For some it is the bricks and elements in the sets, which they use for building their own creations.
For some it may be a combination of many these reasons.
Whichever of these apply to you, know that Friends Bricks is about connecting with other fans for sharing information, creations, inspiration, news, ideas, and enjoyment of the Friends theme.
A natural progression:
Over the years, LEGO fans have created communities for nearly every type of LEGO theme offered; Friends Bricks adds to that spirit of community in celebrating the various aspects of LEGO Friends. Whether it is the concept of Heartlake City, new type of bricks, Mini-Dolls, an expanding storyline, or the style of buildings and scenes -- our community is an friendly place for Friends fans!
Our History:
On the eve of the January 1st 2012 Launch of LEGO Friends, a "LEGO Friends" group was created on Flickr for the purpose of connecting fans who may be interested in the new theme. As a photo-sharing site, Flickr is a well-established hang-out for fans & builders of LEGO bricks & sets. The group became a hub for sharing information, images of sets and other aspects of the line, as well as MOC (My Own Creations) fans built using the bricks from Friends sets and their own designs.
Over time, as more LEGO fans grew to enjoy this theme, the idea of having ways to share creations with a wider audience spurred the expansion of that initial group to connect with other LEGO fans sites. Developed as an extension of that "community" a blog for Friends creations built by AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO) was created to complement another blog, which showcases new fans (mainly girls new to the LEGO experience) building with Friends sets.
The name "Friends Bricks" was chosen to represent the core aspect of this theme: building bricks. Our Forum and web site were created January 2013 to have a centralized place for fans to communicate. This way, fans not aware of, or active on Flickr could find our community. Friends Bricks outlets were also added to several social networking sites. The web site was created to help make comprehensive information available.
By June 2013 we began hosting Building Challenges for the purpose of encouraging creativity and inspiration, plus community involvement.
In January 2014 we began receiving sets from LEGO Group's CEE Team (Community Events and Engagement) for the purpose of providing Reviews by fans/builders of Friends. This helps provide insights of set elements, bricks, and building techniques. Reviews provide additional information beyond just the product description.
Our community is global and has grown nicely; yet it remains personal and friendly.
Our goal:
Simply be a place where fans can catch up on LEGO Friends news, set details, ask a question, get advice, share a story or a creation.
We have a lively Forum filled with topics ranging from new sets coming soon, to questions about building styles, to availability of certain polybags, to how this theme fits into the hobby, to member's creations, to news of events and the overall LEGO Friends experience, to resource links and more. We reserve these topics for our Members -- to provide a peaceful and positive environment.
If this sounds like a place for you -- join the Friends Bricks Forum by registering; a confirmation e-mail will be sent via ProBoards.
We hope you enjoy your time here,
